December 2001

Dear Parents,
Happy Holidays from AEL This is the time of year, when we think of family, friends, peace on earth andgoodwill to all. Since the events of September 11, I am sure these thoughts have become even more precious to us. As we bring this eventful year to a close, we would like to take the opportunity to wish you and your family a peaceful and joyous holiday season. Whether it's Santa, or Pere Noel, Jultomten or Kris Kringle, all the children (and many of the grown-ups too) are waiting for the holiday activities to begin. Our school has been busily preparing for the season as well. Students are studying about the many different holiday traditions, practicing their parts for the annual Holiday Program, and preparing the classrooms for a long winter's nap.

Our first few months of school have brought some changes, not only in the outside world, but also to our school. Our computer room is growing and parents now provide a once a week, after school program, our web site has been revamped and updated, the PAC has had many exciting activities for the children and are working on plans for the upcoming semesters. We are installing a new phone line in the main office to help with the volume of calls we are receiving and we are investigating some new communication plans via e-mail.

Registration has been sent home for the 2002-2003 school year and responses have been quite good. Our advertising campaign began last week and will run through January, 2002. As a reminder, registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you want to be sure of a spot for next year, please return your registration before our winter break.

I want to thank all of the staff for their hard work in making this school year the very best. Best wishes for the holiday season.

See you in January.
Jack and Bonnie Cooper

Welcome
Many of you have noticed that things are changing in our Main Office. Cosmetic and equipment updates are the obvious. Most important, however, is our new, permanent Office Administrator, Ann Taber.

Ann's first day was in late October and she has been busy since then with our web site, organizing and updating the office environment and meeting all our children. Before her recent career change, Ann was the Director of Marketing Communications at Lucent Technologies. Ann lives in West Yarmouth and has three children.

Please stop in and say hello. Ann is in the office from 7:15 to 3:00 every day and is very interested in your comments and suggestions for anything that will help make our administrative efforts productive and supportive of your needs.

Recently, we have heard comments about the availability of phone lines, contacting a "warm body" in the Main Office and the ability to leave a message. With the change to a new service provider, we must apologize and admit there have been some problems. Here is the solution we are implementing immediately:

1) A second phone line is being added to the Main Office.
2) To ensure that you can always leave a message, we are investigating a new voice mail system.
3) In case of an emergency and as an alternative to leaving a voice mail message, Ann will carry a cell phone with her at all times during school hours. In case of emergency, you may call 508-737-8438.

Please let us know if these measures are not working, or, if there are other issues we need to resolve. Thank you for your patience.
